Music starts at 5:00PM - Pot luck dinner at 5:45- second set at 6:15. Suggested minimum donation of $8 All proceeds go to the artists. Holly and Steve perform in our cozy living room to entertain and smooz. They will play 2 half hour sets with a pot - luck meal served in between.
There is a story behind the name of the band. It's from a song Holly wrote called "Neptune's Car." In 1856, nineteen-year-old Mary Patten navigated the clipper ship Neptune’s Car around Cape Horn to complete her husband’s voyage from New York to San Francisco. Holly writes a lot of historical biography songs about women and that's where Neptune's Car came from. Join us between sets to meet and mingle with new friends and old with a pot-luck dinner. Welcome to bring a beverage of choice, Tea and Coffee available. Seating is very limited so we ask that you rsvp For information about the pot-luck, directions and reservations email andy.iflp@yahoo.com or call Andy at 508-789-8809.
We love live music, but the bar scene is not our favorite place to take in music. We prefer a more intimate atmosphere where the focus is on the music. In our advancing years we sometimes lack the endurance to listen to music in the late wee hours. Our solution is to bring musicians into our home on weekends during early evenings/late afternoons for a set or two and a pot-luck dinner. We ask for a suggested donation from each attendee that goes directly to the artist. Suggested donations vary according to the artist, how long they plan on playing, and how much they have traveled to perform. So far we have local entertainers booked to play every two or three months. Seating is very limited so we ask that you RSVP. Our first House Concert is November 7th at 4:30 pm. Dr. Gonzo (Stu Esty) will be playing keyboards and singing two 45 minute sets. Many know the good doctor as the proprietor of Dr. Gonzo's Uncommon Condiments Comestible Emporium. Few know that Stu is an accomplished musician. His distinctive gravely vocal style ads a personal touch to his original tunes and covers. Local folk musicians Holly Hanson and Steve Hayes will be performing February 6th 2010, and Worcester's premier Delta Blues performer, Jon Short is scheduled for a soon to be determined date in April. All are invited to join us for good music and to meet and mingle with new friends and old with a pot-luck dinner. House concert link
Re: House Concert - Neptune's Car - Holly Hanson/Steve Hayes
Holly Hanson is a great songwriter with a gorgeous voice, and Steve Hayes is a fantastic guitar player. This should be a wonderful evening.
However, I am only coming if Holly promises to take our donations and use them to record a CD that includes gorgeous songs like this one:

Re: House Concert - Neptune's Car - Holly Hanson/Steve Hayes
I am sorry that I can't attend this show but I really love that people are doing these types of shows. I have jams in my house sometimes and in my mind I think it would be fun to invite people to come to the house to play and listen. I am very interested in hearing how the shows turn out for everyone involved. Keep us updated!

Duncan
Thanks for the encouraging word. I hope you can join us for Jon Short's performance March 27th.
Re: House Concert - Neptune's Car - Holly Hanson/Steve Hayes
Many thanks to Steve, Holly, Linda, Heidi, and cory for thier performances last night.
We only had about a dozen people there plus 3 musicians, but it was incredible. Its such a thrill to have such talent perform in my living room. The company was fun and enthusiastic. No one fell asleep this time. Holly let me rip an advance copy of their new CD. Her voice is so sweet, the stories her original songs tell are so cool. Steve's guitar and uke skills are incredible...and the harmonies...I'm such a blithering fan-boy.
Thanks also to everyone who came. You were great company and the food was great too, even Demas's cookies.
I hope you can make it to hear Jon Short March 27th.
be well
