WORCESTER— A fire heavily damaged a former Plantation Street nightclub and restaurant last night and injured a firefighter.
The firefighter, whose identity was not released this morning, was being treated at the scene of the one-alarm blaze for exhaustion, according to a fire official.
Fire dispatchers got a 911 call at 11:42 p.m. reporting the fire, which caused an estimated $50,000 damage to the former Plantation Club Draft House at 151 Plantation St., according to District Fire Chief John F. Sullivan. He said the fire started in the rear porch area and spread to other parts of the vacant 1-1/2-story building.
It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the fire, which damaged the rear porch and roof. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

seriously. I feel bad that someone got hurt, especially if it was arson.
That building has been for sale for years and from what I heard was not in the best shape.

Ugh, I have two friends that work at the station that would have took that call.

Brown Sq would have taken that one I presume. Used to be Engine 6 if I recall correctly.
That place was a dump even when it was open.
And yet, I've lived your future out, by pounding stages like a clown

Un (frickin) beleivable. That place got a high quality digital sound sytem (that was featured in a National Publication) installed 6 months before it "shut-Down". THe owner used to sit at the bar with his goonish buddies everynite whilst completly neglecting everything around him! That man ruined that place......now this shit.......

arson would only work if there was any value there.
melledo
that place sucked. it was a terrible location and it smelled like corn chips and diapers.
"what?"
Re: If you thought the Plantation Club was closed before...
It only sucked for the past two decades. I know people who had wedding receptions there in the early 90's.
Hey, how much did you get paid to play there anyway ?
Re: If you thought the Plantation Club was closed before...
Im willing to bet someone that fireworks had more to do with the blaze than arson.
Arson would aslo take effort, and planning, I doubt big Ray has any of either
Re: If you thought the Plantation Club was closed before...
Yeah the parking sucked but I had somefun gigs there and saw some great shows there too... Another live music club that didn't make it... The owner wasn't exactly a good businessman.
