Hey!
If you crave more music, here are a couple of sources I've really enjoyed, and you might, too.
bt.etree.org: This site offers thousands of live concerts by bands that excel at the live concert. So, yes, there's more Grateful Dead, Jerry, and Phish than you can kick a hacky sack at, but there's alsotons of other stuff, like Wilco, Ryan Adams, Calexico, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Los Lobos, to name just a few of hundreds. The files are .flac and .shn lossless digital clones, so they're huge. Concerts go way back in time, but also appear immediately after performances. I've downloaded concerts I've attended before even going to bed that night.
inradio.net: This site offers a subscription to a bi-monthly independent label compilation, for about $20. The music is very eclectic and international.
Speedingarrow.com: This site archives everything from the Grateful Dead family, dating back to Jerry's earliest bands and folk appearances. It's all available as individual tracks, or as whole, zipped concerts.
www.archive.org: This site runs out of UCal Berkely (I think). Lots of live concerts.
Got anyothers you'd like to share?
Re: Great sources for music
there are many I go to but this one in particular is the mother load for some really obscure groovy 70's jazz. The guy finds out of print vinyl and rips them to mp3 and shares the entire album on his site. Really fun stuff

The Internet Archive (archive.org) is a non-profit located in the Presidio in San Francisco.

My admiration for the Archive knows no bounds. WCCA TV13 stores most of their uploaded shows there. I store all my podcasts there. They have the money and the desire to host things for the long haul, and in high resolution.
http://blog.wfmu.org/ is another good one. Always something fun at WFMU.
Re: Great sources for music
My favorite thing about the music on Archive.org is that most of it can be streamed on demand. I was actually listening to a show by The Brew off of Archive before I saw this post! There's even a Worcester band or two on there (Uncle Billy's Smokehouse is up there, and I thought Collapsible Three was but I'm not seeing it any more).
Best part? ANY band can put their live shows up there, you just need to post permission on your website and send them the link.
Another option to check out for free, live (and legal) music is Further Network (www.furthurnet.org). It's a P2P that used to be the place for live shows until Archive.org came along and gave hosting for the same stuff. There's still some good stuff on there (like Frank Black and the Catholics, QOTSA, and Metallica ironically), but there's not much there anymore due to a lack of sources.
Sugarmegs (http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/) has streaming shows in Real format for a ton of shows (BB King, Beatles, Bob Dylan, and many others). Supposedly you can also download these shows but I've never tried.
Nugs.net (http://stash.nugs.net/stash.asp) has a small handful of downloadable live shows, but the selection doesn't change. It's mostly jambands and jazz-jam bands, but Les Claypool is on there, along with Bruce Hornsby.

Re: Great sources for music
Yes, Jiggle the Handle has local shows listed on Archive.org.
The Metallica puzzle goes something like this: Back around 1984, when the Dead were about the only band openly allowing - even advocating for - taping, Metallica came out and allowed taping at their shows. It seemed a really cool thing to do at the time. It grew really puzzling fifteen years later when they openly blasted Napster for ripping them off, leading to the awesome early flash cartoon, "Napster Bad," depicting Hetfield as a Cro-Magnon, and Lars as a pesty little guy walking all over him.
Re: Great sources for music
Yeah, Metallica even had a "Taper's Section" for the Black Tour back in '91-92! My friend showed me the "Napster Bad" cartoon, well worth seeking out if you were (even mildly) annoyed by Metallica over the Napster snafu!
Re: Great sources for music
Personal highlight: Lars ranting "Man, we spent all our blood sweat and mother-effing beers making that record," while he roams over the gargantuan body of James Hetfield.
