Big news, everybody!
Through careful negotiations, examination of ANT's options in and around the city in terms of where & when to do a September event, I have found that THIS offer is the best event arrangement that ANT! could have possibly asked for.
Stephen Salisbury Sampler
Saturday, September 17, 2005
in conjunction with the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester Historical Society, Salisbury Mansion, Worcester Antiquarian Society, WPI and others.
A celebration of the donation that Stephen Salisbury made of land for these kind of Worcester cultural organizations way back when.
I'm not a history expert, but I did see that tying in with these organizations (especially the Worcester Art Museum) was a GREAT move for ANT!
ANT! will be setting up anywhere from 60-100 artist tables / spaces in its own autonomous zone within the Highland St. / Institute Road / Salisbury Street / Lancaster Street / Harvard Street area of this day-long event. Ideally, we would like to use the parking lot on Lancaster Street owned by Trinity Lutheran Church, who I am in talks with even as we speak. Other options include the lot on Highland Street in front of the Salisbury Mansion. Another
option is at Institute Park. And there are other options, too.
We will keep the table fee at $25 for the space. We will offer rented tables based on how many people ask for them. We will be doing shared AND independent promotion of this event.
I haven't come up with a NAME for ANT! being a part of the Salisbury Sampler yet, but I'm liking "ANT! On Salisbury" and I'm working on some pretty wild graphic to create a postcard / flyer / poster / website.
Application forms will be put out online and at CC Lowell around June 1st. I'll be working with people in ANT! on specifics that this app form would need to cover.
Of course, MORE DETAILS will be hashed out as we go along, but I'm very excited with ANT! even being asked to team up with these organizations for this event. This is a great opportunity for ANT to even more show its stuff and to show that we are a vital part of the Worcester arts community.

Re: September ANT! (Arts'n'Things) Arts Event!
looks great Doug. Best of luck with it.
I think that maybe we should have some street musicians busking during this :)link
Re: September ANT! (Arts'n'Things) Arts Event!
Busking? Sure. Haven't quite gotten to that stage of planning out the music / perfomance side of things at this, but I'm sure we'll be talking when it gets to that point.
Montreal IS such a wonderful place... (re: the Busking story)
